Claire Mollet and Iyad Barmada
After having obtained her degree at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanne in 1993; Claire MOLLET BARMADA was asked to construct the project she had conceptualised for her degree; the François-Xavier Bagnoud Astronomical Observatory in St. Luc in the Canton of Valais. In 1993 she started her independent career and opened her own office. At the end of 1994 she obtained her postgraduate degree in civil engineering on wooden construction at EPFL. Since, Claire MOLLET has been appointed for the construction of various buildings, she works for private clients as well as for governmental projects. Her concern lies in perfecting details whether it be in her approach, the integration of a project in it's site, respect for the constructed environment, concern of economical energy of a project in relation to sustainable development and to create living spaces in harmony with their users.
After having obtained his degree in architecture at the Architectural faculty of Alep in Syria in 1982, Iyad BARMADA was hired to direct the construction for the Fine Arts School in Damas as well as the architectural supervision for the Municipal Palace in Alep. Arriving in Switzerland in 1987, he worked in several offices around the French speaking part of Switzerland until 1991. In 1991, he joined the School of Architecture in the University of Geneva to achieve his Swiss degree in October 1993. Until 1997, he worked independently for several projects and in 1997 he went into partnership with Claire MOLLET to form the MOLLET-BARMADA Architects office. Iyad BARMADA's double-nationality (Swiss/Syrian) allows him to spread his professional activities abroad as well as in Switzerland.
